Marion General Hospital has been named one of the Most Wired hospital and health systems in the nation for the fifth time. As a testament to its investment in information technology, MGH won the national award in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005 and has repeated the prestigious designation once again in 2009.

Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN) magazine, the journal of the American Hospital Association (AHA), conducts the voluntary Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study each year to name the Most Wired hospitals and health systems. 

The eleventh annual survey was conducted by H&HN in cooperation with McKesson Corporation and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. The survey measures the nation's hospitals on their use of information technologies for patient safety and quality, customer service, business process improvement, workforce management and disaster readiness.

Information technology will continue to play a large role in the delivery of healthcare in the future.
