Radiology Departments Continue Accreditation

Marion Health’s CT, MRI and nuclear medicine departments were recently accredited again by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR—a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists and medical physicists awards accreditations to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards and assesses qualifications of the personnel, adequacy of facility equipment, effectiveness of quality-control measures and quality of clinical images.

The accreditations recognize the professionalism of our radiologists and the following staff’s commitment to providing the highest level of quality patient care:

  • CT – Nick Cain, Amy Drook, Jessica Fansler, Renee Miller, April Stout and Keith Vice.
  • MRI – Karen Batson, Jennifer Cline, Rosalinda Costello and Amy Evans.
  • Nuclear Medicine – Betsy Bouwkamp and Jay Taylor.

Amy Drook, CT; Karen Batson, MRI; and Betsy Bouwkamp, Nuclear Medicine, all played a pivotal role in receiving the accreditations.

They worked many hours to compile and submit the meticulous documentation needed for the ACR accreditations.

“Our new accreditations in CT, MRI and nuclear medicine, as well as our current ultrasound and mammography accreditations recognize the quality, professionalism and technical ability of our radiology department,” states Lynn Imel, administrative director of radiology. “We are proud to attain these recognitions and see it as another example of excellence at Marion Health.”

The accreditations are valid through May 2011.
