MGH Wins Prestigious MICCS Award

Marion Health and Summit Construction Co., Inc. have received the prestigious MICCS Outstanding Project Award for Extraordinary Efforts Toward Eliminating Accidents and Injuries in the Construction Industry. The award was received for the three-phase renovation of the Marion Health Radiology department. It represents MICCS's pick for statewide Outstanding Project of the Year and Summit Construction's ability to complete the project with no safety incidents.

Achieving no safety incidents was an admirable accomplishment because the renovation presented numerous challenges including: working with three different structural systems/buildings and the need to keep the department open and fully operational while the 2-year renovation was completed.

To give an idea of how noteworthy the award is, the new Indianapolis Motor Speedway Pagoda (timing and control tower) and the "most ambitious construction project in Speedway history", won the same MICCS award when it was completed in 2000.

It is the first MICCS award Marion Health has received and the fifth Indianapolis-based Summit Construction, Co., Inc. has received in 17 years.
